What started as an interest in social media marketing, soon became a full fledged passion for all things digital marketing (Obsession might be a better word). There is nothing I enjoy more than solving the puzzle that is developing a digital marketing strategy. Integrating all of the little pieces that make up such a strategy in an always changing environment is a challenge I will always welcome with open arms.
In 2012, I became a professional downhill skateboarder. Shortly after turning professional, I was on the podium at several world cups, and consistently ranked in top ten on the world cup circuit. During my time as a professional athlete I had the opportunity to travel the world, experience new cultures, and create lifelong friends along the way. My international travels as a professional athlete gave me the opportunity to test the waters for a job in marketing in a way that I could never achieve in a formal school setting. By the end of the four years, I had helped manage the social media accounts for two of my sponsors, produced a wildly successful viral video, and created a significant following as an athlete.
Today I am taking all of the passion and energy I used to become a professional athlete, and putting it towards my new passion for digital marketing. During my time as an athlete I grew to love the interaction and see the value in having the connection with your customers that social media provides. I am now dedicating myself to being the best social marketer there is. With the same persistence and work ethic I used to become a professional athlete, I know it will happen.
The majority of my hobbies involve doing something active and outdoors. This includes hiking, longboarding, climbing, camping, road/mtn biking, reading, running. Relaxing on the couch and watching a movie isn’t too bad either though.
Over the past five years I have traveled to over 20 countries. I have done everything from downhill skateboarding in the alps, bull fighting in Colombia, bungee jumping in Canada, watching the Tour de France, surfing a train in Switzerland, and much more. The knowledge and perspective gained through my international experiences is something I value greatly.
