Alex was born in Portland, Oregon in 1992. It wasn’t until he turned seven years old though that he began to skateboard. The next 8 years were spent balancing skateboarding and music, but the drive to become the best skateboarder he could eventually took over. When Alex turned fourteen he was introduced into downhill skateboarding. After years of traditional street skateboarding the transition to downhill came smoothly. Within a short matter of time Alex has earned some sponsorships and started his career as a professional downhill skateboarder.
Within two years of starting his venture into downhill skateboarding, Alex had aquired a sponsor and began competing in local events.
After three years of competing locally in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, he gathered up the sponsors and endorsements needed to compete in his rookie season on the 2011 IGSA world-cup series circuit. As one of the youngest riders on the circuit, and with seasoned athletes racing against him, he overcame the odds and ended up 4th in the series of out approximately 1000 competitors. This finish secured his place as being one of the top downhill riders, but he would have to prove myself again in 2012.
After a winter of training during the off season between 2011 and 2012, and with the help of some new endorsements I was prepared to race in the 2012 IGSA world cup series.
I finished 1st at the opening race of the 2012 world cup series held in Australia giving me the confidence needed to do well throughout the rest of the season. At the end of the 2012 season I had two 1st place finishes, seven podium finishes, a 3rd place at the world championships, and a 4th place overall in the world cup series.
